Buffalo Bills and NFL Foundation donate $400,000 to response efforts

The city of Buffalo is still in mourning after last Saturday’s racist attack on Buffalo’s east side.

10 people were killed and three others were injured after a gunman attacked at the Tops of Jefferson Avenue on Buffalo’s east side. The attack was racially motivated, as police and investigators soon discovered.

The City of Buffalo, Western New York and New York State led response efforts to help the families and friends of the victims, as well as the East Side community, as the location of Tops remains closed due to an ongoing investigation.

The Buffalo Bills and the NFL stepped up on Wednesday, as the Bills announced their foundation had donated $200,000 to response efforts after Saturday’s attack. The NFL Foundation matched the donation, making it $400,000.

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden visited Buffalo on Tuesday. They traveled to Jefferson Avenue and the site of the aftermath, while meeting directly with families of victims and first responders. President Biden then addressed the media during a press conference.

A community document has been created to let residents of Western New York know exactly how to help those in need, like where to donate and what to donate.
