Fundraising for the current construction project
A trivia night is scheduled for 6 p.m. on October 21 to raise funds for the ongoing Barry-Lawrence Development Center construction project.
“We had enough for the original estimated costs,” said Lynda Painter, director. “But then inflation hit us and the cost of everything went up. We need to raise between $300,000 and $350,000 in additional funds to cover these increased costs. »
The exterior of the new 6,000 square foot facility has been completed, leaving the interior construction of therapy rooms, shelter, kitchen, play area and amenities.
“Naming rights are available on the occupational therapy rooms, speech therapy rooms, as well as the playground,” Painter said.
Painter said she is seeking grants and foundations in addition to organizing local fundraisers to cover cost increases.
The Trivia Night fundraiser will feature 10 Q&A rounds, with each round featuring 10 questions.
Costs are $150 for a table with a maximum of eight players; or $25 for each individual player. Places are limited to the first 15 teams.
Concessions will be available. A silent auction will also take place that evening.
Those wishing to donate items can contact Painter at 417235-9803.
Entries before October 15 will include $5 mulligans with a maximum of 10 per team.
All proceeds from the event will go to the building fund.
