Peshtigo River Center Receives Over $10,000 in Grants

MENOMINEE, Mich. (WLUC) — The Peshtigo River Center has received a $9,000 grant from the Alcohol and Other Drugs Fund (AAOD) and a $1,510 grant from the Crivitz Area Giving Fund.

Both funds are administered by the M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF), which makes grants during the Foundation’s winter grantmaking cycle.

The Peshtigo River Center is a multi-purpose organization serving the recovery community in the greater Crivitz area. They provide low-cost housing for those coming out of hospital treatment, incarceration, the military, or those who simply need help getting back on their feet. They also provide resources, education and awareness about substance use disorders. They offer weekly recovery meetings, mentoring and services by peer support specialists and in-house certified recovery coaches.

The Crivitz Area Giving Fund grant was used to purchase tables, chairs and a sound system for their second annual recovery day. The $9,000 grant from the AAOD Fund will be used to provide monthly scholarships to those looking for a safe and supportive place to live while they try to change past lifestyle habits.

The check presentation took place on Saturday, March 5 during the Peshtigo River Center recovery day. Paula Gruszynski, Executive Director of MMACF, attended the meeting and made the announcement.

“The excellent work done by the Peshtigo River Center was evident to our granting committees. They were very willing to offer two awards to help those recovering,” said Paula Gruszynski, MMACF Executive Director.
