Foundations: Sanofi’s new philanthropic spearhead

Paris, May 4, 2022. Sanofi launch today Foundations – The Sanofi Collective, its philanthropic endowment fund aimed at creating a healthier future for generations. Through donations, partnerships and collective action, Foundations will focus on three critical areas: childhood cancer, the health of communities most vulnerable to the effects of climate change and pollution, and access to life-saving medicines and vaccines.

Foundations will incorporate as a fundamental initiative the former Sanofi Hope Foundationit is My child mattersprogram in childhood cancer. Launched in 2005 to give every child an equal chance of survival, My Child Matters provides financial support and expertise so that all children can access diagnosis and treatment. The program has helped more than 120,000 children, trained more than 50,000 healthcare professionals, and has been recognized for improving survival outcomes. Besides, Foundations will fund childhood cancer awareness and research in various countries. Together, these initiatives support the World Health Organization’s (WHO) goal of achieving at least 60% survival for all children with cancer by 2030, saving an additional 1 million lives over the the next decade.

Fighting for a healthier future requires addressing the challenges of today and anticipating growing crises. To this end, Foundations will work to increase the health resilience of vulnerable populations moreimpacted by climate change and Pollution. FFoundation S will begin by collaborating with the Bangladesh-based international NGO Friendship, which focuses on the hard-to-reach and climate-vulnerable islands of Gaibandha. The, Foundations will help train health workers and fund satellite clinics and a floating hospital in an area outside of traditional health services.

To better help vulnerable populations, Foryoundation S will build on Sanofi’s longstanding expertise in emergency relief and improve the connection between humanitarian and development funding. As in Ukraine, where the company coordinated and accelerated donations of essential medicines and vaccines for patients and refugees, Foundationswill be renewSanofi emergency aid donation program and extending proactive support, in particular to displaced populations.

The launch of the S Foundation is a new cornerstone of Sanofi commitment to society and a pivotal moment in the life of our company and our people. With S Foundation, we goal for weigh and act on targeted areas where we we know can make a real difference to populations exposed to health problems.

Foundations will work as a “youto think&Do reservoir.” The “think tank” guides the development and implementation of Foundations, hosts thought-provoking discussions on how best to tackle health challenges. The “do-tank” is the operational arm that supports the implementation of programs and monitors their impact on public health. Sanofi employees will be the key to the success of the Foundations and be empowered to support its programs and partners through volunteering and preceptorships: a period of hands-on experience to gain.

Vanina Laurent-Ledru will conduct Foundations. She was previously Head of Global Public Affairs for Sanofi Specialty Care. Prior to joining Sanofi, Laurent-Ledru worked on public health issues at global vaccine alliance Gavi and other healthcare companies.
