Dedicated to thought leadership in policy development, setting and advancing policy priorities, strengthening links between education, research and industry, and expanding the network of national collaboration and international organization of the Qatar Foundation, Earthna will focus on sustainability in hot and arid climates, sustainable energy and maximizing QF’s Education City campus as a test bed for new technologies and sustainable implementations.

Earthna’s launch at the High-Level Roundtable explored ways to make cities the center of sustainable global solutions for nature and climate. The expert panelists who gave their opinion during the roundtable were His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al ThaniMinister of Environment and Climate Change, Qatar; The Right Honorable Vincent Thomas Keaveny, Lord Mayor of London; Jane Madgwick, CEO, Wetlands International; Manuel Pulgar Vidal, Global Practice Lead on Climate and Energy – at WWF; and Gonzalo Castro de la Mataexecutive director of Earthna.

“Our connection to nature is key to our future. As a leader in sustainability, QF has supported national priorities, from educating our community about sustainability to generating solutions for from Qatar most pressing environmental challenges. By creating Earthna, we are combining our research and community strengths to address new policy solutions,” said Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al ThaniVice President and CEO of the Qatar Foundation.

Earthna will bring together a broad community of experts, governments, policy makers, businesses, multilateral institutions and civil society to generate a more sustainable future. It will also integrate and build on key work elements to cultivate sustainable behaviors, mindsets and actions that have been driven by CQ entities.

The Earthna center will focus on the areas of circular economy, sustainable energy, resource security and management, environmental protection and restoration, and societal well-being.
