Baku, April 25, AZERTAC
The International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation organized an event “The Unity of the Children of the Turkish World”, dedicated to April 23 – the National Sovereignty and Children’s Day of Turkiye, a founding state of the organization, and an exhibition of paintings by Azerbaijani artist Kovsar Gurban.
The event was organized with the aim of further strengthening the cultural ties between the Foundation and the member and observer states of the organization and familiarizing the younger generation with the material and spiritual values of the Turkish world.
In her opening remarks, Foundation President Gunay Afandiyeva said she was happy to see children – the architects of the future of the Turkish world – at the International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation: he most precious asset of every state is the children who represent peace, love and hope.
On this beautiful day, sharing with you the excitement of this holiday, I invite the children of the Turkish world – represented by the young people of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan gathered here – to spread the message of peace, friendship and brotherhood to the whole world together. We must not forget the children who wanted to celebrate this feast, but who were confronted with war, famine and disease. Each of us must do everything we can to reintegrate them into society, to meet their needs. It is extremely important that our children receive an education. Today their openness to science and new technologies, reading, research, interest in innovations is essential. But we, as adults, are obliged to instill in them a love of our homelands, our nations, our history, our culture and our traditions. We, as the International Foundation of Turkish Culture and Heritage, are proud and happy to fulfill this honorable mission. Because one of our main goals is to transmit the material and cultural values of the Turkish world to future generations. I congratulate all the children once again on this holiday and wish them to celebrate this day next year in Shusha, the cultural capital of the Turkish world.
Speaking at the event, Turkey’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bagci underlined the importance of the event: “It can be said that every week the International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation organizes very important events to promote Turkish culture and heritage. April 23 is the day Mustafa Kemal Atatürk lit the torch of national struggle. In this sense, national sovereignty is the message of Atatürk, who tells children to recognize their homeland, their identity, their flag, and so it is very precious.
The event was attended by TurkPA Secretary General Mehmet Süreyya Er, MPs from Turkish States, Member State Ambassadors and Foundation Observers and other officials.
At the party, children representing Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan performed songs, performed dances in national costumes, played national musical instruments and read poems expressing the solidarity of the Turkish world. Then the children participating in the event received certificates and gifts. Participants of the event also saw the exhibition of paintings by young Azerbaijani artist Kovsar Gurban.
