The Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation organizes a party for children [PHOTO]

The International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation in Baku organized a “The Unity of the Children of the Turkish World” event to mark national sovereignty and Children’s Day of Turkiye (April 23).

Foundation President Gunay Afandiyeva spoke at the event aimed at further strengthening cultural ties between the foundation and the organization’s member and observer states as well as acquainting the younger generation with material and spiritual values of the Turkish world.

She expressed her joy to see children – the architects of the future of the Turkish world at the International Foundation of Turkish Culture and Heritage.

“The most precious asset of every state are the children who represent peace, love and hope. On this beautiful day, sharing with you the excitement of this holiday, I invite the children of all Turks – represented by young people from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkiye, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan have gathered here – to spread together the message of peace, friendship and brotherhood throughout the world. We must not forget the children who wanted to celebrate this holiday, but who have faced war, famine, disease. Each of us must do everything possible to reintegrate them into society, to meet their needs. It is extremely important that our children get an education,” Afandiyeva said.

“Today, their openness to science and new technologies, reading, research and interest in innovations are essential. But we, as adults, are obliged to instill in them the love of our homelands , our nations, our history, our culture and our traditions. We, as the International Foundation of Turkish Culture and Heritage, are proud and happy to fulfill this honorable mission. Because one of our main objectives is to pass on the material and cultural values ​​of the Turkish world to future generations. I once again congratulate all the children on the holiday and wish them to celebrate this day next year in Shusha, the cultural capital of the Turkish world” , she added.

Speaking at the event, Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bagci stressed the importance of the event.

“It can be said that every week, the International Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation organizes very important events to promote Turkish culture and heritage. April 23 is the day when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk lit the torch of national struggle In this sense, national sovereignty is the message of Atatürk, who tells children to assume their homeland, their identity, their flag, and therefore it is very precious,” he said.

Secretary General of TurkPA Mehmet Sureyya Er, MPs of Turkish States, Ambassadors of Member States and Observers of the Foundation and other officials also took part in the event.

At the party, children representing Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan performed songs, performed dances in national costumes, played national musical instruments and read poems expressing the solidarity of the Turkish world.

The young talents received certificates and gifts. Participants of the event also saw the exhibition of paintings by young Azerbaijani artist Kovsar Gurban.

Initiated in 2012, the Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation focuses on the preservation of Turkish heritage in member countries as well as conducting projects in collaboration with partners in third countries.

The Foundation provides assistance in the protection, study and promotion of Turkish culture and heritage by supporting and funding various activities, projects and programs. It operates in cooperation with TURKSOY and the Turkish Academy.

The Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTSS) is an intergovernmental organization that aims to promote comprehensive cooperation between Turkic-speaking States.

The organization was created by the Nakhchivan Agreement, which was signed during the Turkish summit in 2009.

In order to fulfill the objectives and tasks of CCTSS, the organization has been divided into the following structures: Council of Heads of States; Council of Foreign Ministers, Committee of Senior Officials, Council of Elders, Secretariat, Coordination Committee, Representative Office of the Turkish Council in Budapest.
