New York, NY – The CUNY Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy (CUNY SPH) has appointed Dr. Daniel Knecht, Director of Clinical Innovation (CCIO) at CVS Caremark, to its foundation board.

“Dr. Knecht brings to our board an extraordinary perspective as a practicing health professional who also promotes national access to knowledge and consumer-focused health solutions,” said Dean Ayman El- Mohandes of CUNY SPH “As public health advocates, we are excited to collaborate on effective and empathetic initiatives.”

In his role at CVS Caremark, CVS Health’s pharmacy benefit manager, Dr. Knecht works with customers and the product team to identify unmet needs in the market and accelerate innovation to improve health outcomes. and better manage costs.

Prior to this role, Dr. Knecht served as Vice President of Clinical Products, where he led clinical product development across all major CVS Health business areas to develop and execute clinical strategies that address unmet health needs. Since joining the company in 2016, Dr. Knecht has led a series of company-wide strategic initiatives, including the company’s efforts to address opioid abuse and the addiction. As part of the combined organization, his team focused on leveraging data analytics and company assets to deliver actionable insights to patients and providers that increase the value of care.

Dr. Knecht graduated with honors from Dartmouth College and earned a joint MD and MBA from Weill Cornell Medical College and the Johnson Graduate School of Management, where he received the Lee Family Fellowship. He is a Fulbright Scholar in Medical Sciences and has conducted research that explored health care gaps in Israel’s Negev region. Dr. Knecht is also an Associate Clinical Professional at Mount Sinai West in New York, where he still sees patients.

CVS Caremark works with employers, health plans, unions, and state and local governments nationwide. It manages prescription plans that help control costs while ensuring access, and provides consumers with tools, services and support.
