An award-winning television sportscaster who lost her parents to a drug overdose will speak Wednesday at the second Women Honoring Women Gala sponsored by Families Against Narcotics of Clinton Township.
Lauren Sisler, who has broadcast on ESPN and the SEC Network, will speak at the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club during the May 4 event that celebrates women who have overcome various challenges, been impacted by substance use disorders substances or have made a difference in their community. while battling addiction.
Sisler’s parents died of ovedosis within hours of each other. “She now works tirelessly to raise awareness of addiction and the devastating effects it can have,” said a FAN press release.
The gala, which will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., will include dinner, raffles, and vendors of women’s products and services. FAN’s special guest will be Lisa Daniels-Goldman, co-founder and trustee of the Jamie Daniels Foundation, which grants funds to support community partners who provide programs, resources and solutions to combat the addiction epidemic.
The event, which is open to men and women, will benefit families against narcotics by helping to fund their ongoing efforts to help individuals and families fight addiction, officials said. FAN programs include Hope Not Handcuffs, Community Naloxone Training, Stronger Together Family and Friends Support Group, COMEBACK Rapid Response Team, Peer and Family Recovery Coaching, and Fellowships studies for sober living.
