USPOULTRY honors Michael Robach for his service to the Foundation’s Research Advisory Board

Robach has over 40 years of experience in the food industry, much of which was obtained as Vice President, Corporate Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory for Cargill.

Robach began serving on the FRAC in 1991 as a poultry expert reviewing food safety research proposals, making him the committee’s longest serving member. He was president of the FRAC for several years during his tenure. Dr. John Glisson, USPOULTRY’s Vice President of Research from 2011-2019, said, “Mike’s extensive knowledge of food safety and quality assurance research, coupled with decades of hands-on experience , have provided a tremendous continuity of excellent contributions to USPOULTRY’s research programs. Additionally, Robach received the USPOULTRY Workhorse of the Year 2019 award at the International Poultry Expo, which is part of the International Production & Processing Expo. It is the most prestigious honor in the poultry industry and is awarded annually in recognition of dedicated service and valuable leadership given to the Association and the poultry industry. Dr. Charlie Beard, former director of the Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory and former vice president of research at USPOULTRY, recruited Robach to the FRAC in 1991. Robach is a former Chairman of the Board of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), former President of Safe Supply of Affordable Food Everywhere (SSAFE), and former member of the Executive Committee of the Science and Regulatory Affairs Council for Food Manufacturers. grocery stores. He is also a former member of the North American Meat Institute, the National Turkey Federation, the International Association of Food Protection, the Institute of Food Technologists, and the American Society for Microbiology. He has also worked closely with the USDA and FDA regarding food safety policy, HACCP, and science-based regulatory reform. From 1995 to 2000, Robach was a member of the National Advisory Committee for Microbiological Criteria in Foods.

Currently, he is CEO of the Robach Group and remains active in the poultry industry and the Continental Grain Company. Dr. Angie Siemens, Vice President, Corporate Food Safety, Quality and Regulatory for Cargill, will assume Robach’s role on the FRAC.
